Learning Goals for November 29th to December 3rd!

Sorry I am bit late with posting... what I can say coming off of a long break you kind of get out of your groove a little bit! I am hoping all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break!


Math:
Double digit addition with carrying
Identifying tens and ones in any number
Writing numbers 101-150
Addition and subtraction facts
Review telling time to the hour
Missing Addends


Language Arts:
Phrase: It could always be worse...


We began our chapter book read aloud, Chocolate Fever!
We will be working on the following comprehension strategies...

  • making connections
  • making inferences
  • making pictures in our mind to help us understand what is going on
  • identifying characters, setting, beginning, middle, ending events in sequential order
  • identifying problems and solutions
  • learning new vocabulary words by using familiar words in the text

Social Studies:
Rosa Parks Day is December 1st! We will be reading a couple of stories about this remarkable lady and about why she there is a special day set aside for her. 

We will also be beginning to be talking about the 1 out of the 3 world religions that we will be studying in the month of December!   Judaism...

What is religion?
What is Judaism?
What do we call people who practice Judaism?
What book do they use to learn about their religion?
Who is Moses?
What happened to the Jewish people when they had to escape?
What is Hanukkah?

Science:
Skeletal system-
Why is it important to have a skeleton?
How many bones are in an adult body?
What is skull?
What makes up a bone?

Muscular system-
What do muscles help us with?
What are some examples of voluntary muscles? involuntary muscles?
Where do Jewish people worship?
